Ryan Oksenberg
Role: Film Maker/Screen Writer/Artist
I'm an LA-based filmmaker from Toronto, Canada. I graduated with a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago - one of the last film schools to shoot and cut on film. My brain is always coming up with stories so as result, I've written lots of screenplays by myself and with others. Some have been optioned, some were work for hire and some are collecting virtual dust on my laptop. Directing is my true love. Being in the trenches alongside a team of collaborators all racing to get that shot before sundown is truly thrilling and very rewarding to me. I try to keep that part of me sharp by directing as much as I can. You can find me geeking out to Youtube interviews of my favorite directors, including: Kubrick, Kurosawa, Spielberg, Ford and Peckinpah. One time I had a social-outreach docu-series on TV, "Life Line Booth," which aired on Participant Media's TV division. Back in college I made a doc exploring the 'music motive' to the Manson murders called "Cease to Exist," which continues to be re-uploaded today by fans. You can find those and other works here on Vimeo. Going on adventures, camping and seeing the world keeps me inspired and grounds an overactive imagination I've had since I can remember.
